ELLE Honors These Trailblazing Women In November

ELLE Magazine honors , Zendaya, and Natalie Portman for their 2019 Women in Hollywood. 

Country music icon, Dolly Parton opens up to ELLE about her trailblazing career from the stage to the screen. The “9 to 5” singer is known for her big hair and iconic looks:

“I look totally artificial but I am totally real, as a writer, as a professional, as a human being.”

Rising actress Zendaya discusses her roles in Euphoria and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The former Disney star learned her love for acting from her parents and shares with ELLE about her experience growing up in the spotlight with her first sitcom, Shake It Up.  

The star also opens up to ELLE about her daily struggles with anxiety, saying:

“People saying I actually did a good job in my craft…it’s like ‘Damn, I did work hard. I’m glad you see that.’” She adds, “I should finally own that; it’s liberating. I feel lucky.”

A-lister Natalie Portman has been gracing the big screen since she was 12 years old, but now she is stepping into more complex roles.  

The star opens up about her transition into playing more layered, mature roles:

“When you show a woman being a complete human being, with the bad as well as the good, that’s feminist. It’s a humanist way of seeing people.”
